21 food poisoning cases have been reported in Dong Nai province for 4 years (2004-2008), affecting 1,258 people and killing 2 people. In 2008 alone, 175 people were poisoned and nobody died. The number of food poisoning cases has increased by 65% compared to the average level of two consecutive years. The reasons for food poisoning are mainly careless food processing. The management of compliance with food hygiene and safety regulations has still faced many difficulties. Typically, the province has not totaled up the number of slaughterhouses, spontaneous markets, retail and small food processing centers and other places providing industrial rations, etc.

Most delegates agreed that in order to well implement the management of regulations on food hygiene and safety, each sector has to identify its responsibility and synchronously cooperate with each other to perform the tasks.
