Salt amount ensuring
iodine sufficiency drops gradually. |
According to statistical data by
Ministry of Health, in 2008, there are only 10% of households nationwide using
iodized salts containing sufficient amount of iodine to meet illness prevention
standard, down 20% compared with that in 2005. The number of goiter sufferers
gets rapidly increased. As reported by Central Endocrine Clinic, number of
patient suffering from goiter has tendency of getting higher and occupies 50% of
the whole patients in the past few years. Via surveys and tests, it is shown
that 50% of salt in the market cannot meet requirements for iodine amount, a
risk of goiter is particularly high, Cao Trong Nguong, director of the center
said. For goiter prevention, people should take in much more iodized salt in
their daily meals.
