* Dong Nai has asked for permission to use a portion of fines to fix black spots.
Minister
of Traffic and Transportation Dinh La Thang reported, for 9 months, traffic safety over the
country has got better; all of three criteria of traffic accidents decrease (in
terms of number of cases, deaths and injuries). Particularly, there were 23,619
traffic accidents, causing 6.908 deaths and 25.002 injuries, which meant
traffic accidents decreased 9,306 cases, deaths decreased 1.502 cases and
injuries decreased 10,634 cases compared to the same period of 2011.
At the
conference, Vice President of People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province
petitioned the government for using a portion of traffic safety fund (fines for
traffic regular break) to fix black spots and upgrade local traffic facilities.
The Province also suggested the government to accelerate the national route 20 and
other relating routes building, passing the province and functioning to support
bauxite transport as well as insure the local traffic safety.
To
conclude at the conference, the Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc suggested
in the rest 3 months of the year, ministries, branches and locals should pay
more attention to traffic safety; propagate and follow the Decree 71 (replacing
for Decree 34) on traffic sanctioning with higher level of fines and
deterrence. Provinces and cities should give more specific introductions to
keep traffic accidents decreasing in the last 3 months…
