Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee, Ao Van Thinh, awards certificates of merit to individuals that have obtained outstanding achievements in farmers’ movements

    Throughout the implementation of the three emulation movements initiated by the Central Farmers Association of Vietnam, such movements as a good production farmer, a good farmer-businessman, farmers helping one another to eliminate hunger and to reduce poverty and farmers learning how to get rich legally have received a positive response from levels of the Association and from a large number of the Association’s members. The movement has evoked a fighting spirit and a strong will among the Association’s members and mobilized all social resources for socio-economic development, for the building of new rural areas and for hunger elimination and poverty reduction.

    So far, Dong Nai has had more than 80,000 good production and business households at three levels: 235 central-level households, 3,046 provincial-level households, 18,294 district-town-and-city-level households and 58,425 grassroots-level households. Good production and business farmer movements have bolstered up farmer household and farm economy and created a production-cooperation link. Up to now, 435 high-yield clubs, 163 cooperation organizations, 4 associations of clubs and 206 cooperatives have been established.

Besides emulation movements  such as a good production farmer, a good farmer-businessman and getting rich legally, levels and members of the Association, especially well-off households and those who are successful businessmen, have contributed more than VND65 billion and nearly 160,000 labor days to having 3,974 house of compassion worth over VND30 billion built, to having 1,297 kilometers of rural roads built and upgraded and to having 772 classrooms built and so on.

    In addition, farmers’ social and cultural emulation movements have received a strong response. Particularly, every year nearly 200,000 households sign up for the “Cultural Family” program and more than 180,000 households have been recognized as “Cultural Farmer Family”.

    Addressing the meeting, Mr. Tran Van Lam, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Farmers Association of Vietnam commended the levels and members of the Association for their great achievements in the patriotic movement and contributions to making a stronger and stronger association. “To promote these achievements, levels and members of the Farmers Association are supposed to intensify efforts, to accelerate good business and production emulation movements among farmers, to help each other eliminate hunger and poverty, to help  each other get rich legally, to combine these activities with cultural-family-and-village-building movements and to join hands in the security and order preservation in rural areas”, Lam stressed.

    On this occasion, certificates of merit were awarded to 117 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in farmers movements. Also, five representatives for more than 208,000 officers and members of the Farmers Association were elected by the meeting and these representatives will attend the upcoming national congress for exemplary farmers in Hanoi.
