The
pre-summation conference about the service development program in
the first half of 2009 |
GDP of the service industry in the first half of 2009 is expected to hit
VND3,600 billion, up 8.92% over the same period, accounting for 44.9% of the
year plan. Particularly, the four industries that make up large proportion are:
trade, up 8.7%; asset consultancy services, 6.56%; financial and credit
services, 9.39% and transportation and depot services and communications, up
8.2%. However, due to the powerful impact of the global economic recession, the
growth rate of the service industry in the first half of 2009 is much lower than
that of the same period last year (in the first half of 2008 up 17% - in the
first half of 2009 up 15.3%). A number of businesses have reduced their labor
force and cut back on production since their export markets dwindled. For
example, such businesses as Lac Cuong Shoes Co. Ltd, Global Plastic Packaging
Co. Ltd, Dian Ya Porcelain Joint Venture and so on have had to shut down.
The vital tasks in the second half of 2009 are to focus on key service sectors
like boarding house service, to provide support for bus fare scheme to bus
workers within the province, to enhance the socialization of health care and
education and to implement the government’s demand stimulus package 497
effectively...
