agreed on the following points:
1. Agree on the cooperative
policies and viewpoints on the commodity – cashew nuts between Dong Nai province
and some regions in Cambodia. Specifically, through Vietnamese businesses and
large farm owners in Cambodia, Dong Nai will help the people in Kompong Cham
province as well as Cambodian farming households with the techniques for growing
and taking care of cashews (including growing young cashew trees and reclaiming
existing cashew-growing gardens) and the technology of harvesting cashew nuts.
In terms of the cashew varieties, Dong Nai will supply high-yield varieties
which suit the soil and natural conditions of each region in Cambodia.
2. Encourage Vietnamese
businesses to establish their purchasing stations in some places within Kompong
Cham province and its neighboring provinces to facilitate the cashew nut trading
between Vietnam and Cambodia via formal channels.
3. Agree to support Vietnamese
businesses and investors in building a center for the purchasing and preliminary
processing of cashew nuts in Kompong Thom province. The center will be a link to
promote a sustainable cooperation on the commodity – cashew nuts between Dong
Nai and Cambodia.
4. When the cashew growing
area becomes "large enough" to supply cashew nuts for a medium-sized processing
factory, Vietnamese businesses and investors will build up their factories in
Kompong Cham province.
