Department of Science and Technology holds a seminar on “Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights”

On September 21st morning, provincial Department of Science and Technology held a seminar on “Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights” with attendance of almost 80 representatives from departments, branches, sectors, businesses along with People’s Committee of districts, Long Khanh town and Bien Hoa city.

The seminar passed a brief report about enforcement of intellectual property rights in Dong Nai province from 2007 to 2010. According to it, activities to prevent and control infringement of intellectual property rights in Dong Nai over the past three years have been enhanced substantially. Outcomes of Action Program 168 have contributed to increase in effectiveness of enforcement work of intellectual property rights and prevention and control of its infringement. Since 2007 to now, the 168 inspection delegation checked 35 units and enterprises. Market Regulation Bureau inspected and dealt with 620 violations. Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism dealt with over 170 violations against intellectual property rights, including some administrative sanctions with fairly high fine.

To contribute to development of awareness, professional ability, competence in intellectual property management of enterprises and managing agencies performing functions in intellectual property right enforcement in the province, at the seminar, Ms. Le Hong Van from Department of Enforcing and Complaint Handling under Intellectual Property Bureau presented some issues related to enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights like overview of legal system of Intellectual Property, some amendments to Law in Intellectual Property, practical measures for protecting Intellectual Property Rights.
