After 10 years of implementation,
the campaign has had far reach across the province.
The campaign has been well known
among the people, levels of the Fatherland Front Committee, unions, member
organizations, departments, committees, sectors, organizations, socio-economic
and job organizations, generous sponsors inside and outside the province.
Up to now, 100 percent of hamlets
and quarters have held many campaigns to call for the building of compassion
houses, the setting-up of a poverty reduction fund and the establishment of a
hunger elimination and poverty reduction self-management team.
The results show that the
Fatherland Front Committee and levels of unions have raised VND309 billion
(US$15.85 million) via the "Day for the Poor" campaign.
Particularly, nearly VND124
billion (US$6.36 million) goes to the “For the Poor” Foundation from levels of
authorities and nearly VND186 billion (US$9.54) is raised from the community
under the directions and supervision of the Standing Committee at the Vietnam
Fatherland Front Committee, of unions and levels of member organizations.

Addressing the meeting, Head of
the Southern Fatherland Front Committee Work Vo Van Thien commended the
Fatherland Front Committee and levels of unions for the achievements they have
obtained.
In the forthcoming time, all the
organizational work needs continuous innovations and avoids imitation and
especially more creative programs must be made, Thien stressed.
Thanks to the “Day for the Poor”
Foundation, many underprevelidged people have obtained help, many spacious
houses have been built for the poor and many children with heart diseases and
cleft palate have received medical care materialistically and spiritually, Vice
chairwoman of Dong Nai People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga said.
To make the campaign a social
program with humanities as well as a great contribution to Dong Nai’s hunger
elimination and poverty reduction programme, Fatherland Front Committee, levels
of unions, people from all walks of life and businesses are required to maintain
an effective implementation of the “Support the Poor” campaign.
On this occasion, Dong Nai
People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to 47 collectives and
individuals.
Dong Nai’s Vietnam Fatherland
Front Committee also awarded certificates of merit to 48 collectives and
individuals obtaining notable achievements in the "Day for the Poor" campaign in
the 2000-2010 period.
