On 5 February Afternoon, Dong Nai Dost organized a conference to sum up its activities in 2008 and reveal its plan in 2009. The conference was attended by Nguyen Quan - Vice Minister of MOST, Bui Van Quyen - General Director, MOST’s Southern Office, Tran Van Vinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and representatives from institutes, schools, neighboring provinces’ S&T departments, other departments and sectors in the province and 56 scientific and technological information stations along with its whole staff. |

The project “To gather and uphold the potentiality of Dong Nai province’s intellectual staff from now till 2010, with a vision towards 2020” led by Dr. Huynh Van Toi – Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda Board is approved by the Specialized Scientific Council and asked to check and take over as a good result by the People’s Committee. |

Institute for Economic Research at Ho Chi Minh National Political and Administrative Academy is approved to deploy the implementation of the scientific research paper “The quality of economic growth in Dong Nai: real states, problems and resolutions” by the Specialized Scientific Council. |

With the objective to enhance rubber processing enterprises’ awareness of advantages of cleaner production in business as well as to improve effects of activities in terms of economy and the factory’s environment, Xuan Lap rubber processing factory, under Dong Nai Rubber Company, has applied pilot method of cleaner production under instruction of monitoring center ( under Department of Natural Resources and environment) along with specialists in cleaner production ( belonging to ho Chi Minh City University of Polytechnics). At the first step, the project has gained good results, contributing to save production expenditure and minimize emnironmental pollution.

On July 2nd, at the meeting hall of Department of Natural Resources and Environment, a meeting between directorate of the Department and representatives of two companies, namely Japan Vietnam Fertilizer Co. and Shell Vietnam Co. was held to inform and put forward solutions to environmental pollution treatment concerning corrosion phenomenon on ship skin in Thi Vai river.

According to the project named “ Study harmful effects on overweight and obese children at the age of six to fifteen in primary schools, junior high schools in Bien Hoa city, Dongnai Province” made by Dr Ha Van Thieu, PhD, and Dr Bui Van Xo (Children’s Hospital), it concluded that obese children can be harmed in terms of biological index, blood pressure increase, change in electrocardiogram and study achievement.

On August 31, 2008 evening, at the Trade Center in Phu Tho IV, Hoang Thu Ward, Lang Son City, the opening ceremony of “The Vietnam-China Technology and Equipment Friendship Trade Fair 2008 (Techmart Langson 2008)” co-organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Lang Son People’s Committee was occurred from August 31 to September 3, 2008. |

On September 10 afternoon, the opening ceremony of the first office computer class of the 2nd course for 19 key officers from Dong Nai province and Bien Hoa City was held at Lac Hong University, with the participation of Vice- Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga. |

The 12th youth IT contest 2008 officially took place in the meeting hall of Dongnai Decorative Fine Arts College on June 27th, 2008. The contest was coorganized by Dongnai Youth Union, Provincial Department of Training and Education, Dongnai Department of Science and Technology, Dongnai Radio and Television, Department of Posts and Telematics and the provincial Computer Association.
