The
ceremony to sign the cooperation program between Cooperative Union
and Department of Transport |
At the
workshop, delegates paid a special attention to issues like lack of land to
build head offices, shortage of operational budget and how to improve bus
drivers and conductors’ passenger service attitude in the context where public
bus sector is facing tough competition. Delegates proposed that more
professional training courses be offered to co-operative members and that more
open policies geared towards cooperatives be established to assist them
operating more effectively.
At present, 18
cooperatives with a charter capital of nearly VND23 billion are providing
transport services in Dong Nai. These cooperatives have 1,218 members, 922
employees and 1,739 transportation vehicles (up 215 vehicles compared to 2008),
including 199 trucks and 1,540 passenger buses.
Dong Nai has
120 fixed passenger transportation routes to and from 23 provinces and cities.
Particularly, cooperatives are providing transport services on 95 routes. In
terms of bus services, Dong Nai has 24 routes under stable operation. State
subsidies are given to five routes whereas 19 others do not receive subsidies.
