Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Katherine Muller Marin, chief representative of UNESCO in Vietnam emphasized that the biosphere reserves recognized by UNESCO are the places where local communities are actively involved in management, research, education, training and supervision in order to serve economic and social development as well as biodiversity conservation; those are the pilot areas for the studies of the process of sustainable development of the world.
Chairman Dinh Quoc Thai receives recognition certificate from
UNESCO representative
At the ceremony, on behalf of local governments, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Mr. Dinh Quoc Thai received the recognition certificate of Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve to be one the world. The Chairman said that this was a meaningful and profound event in terms of science and humanities, also the recognition of the forest and environment protection, the conservation of national cultural identity of Party Committee and people of Dong Nai province.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded logos to 11 individuals who had contributed significantly to the formation of Dong Nai biosphere reserve. The ceremony was ended with the Performing arts program "Keep forever green" to celebrate the event, also introduce and promote Dong Nai biosphere reserve.
