Nhon Trach district: 15 years of renovation and development

Under the Decree No.51/CP dated on September 1st, 1994, Nhon Trach district was re-established and officially run as a district-level administrative unit. In the past 15 years, Nhon Trach district has gained remarkable achievements in such fields as economy, society and politics.

15 years with outstanding achievements

Starting with a rural district, Nhon Trach had to face many obstacles. The agricultural economy of Nhon Trach district developed slowly with small-scale production, weak infrastructure, and low intellectual standard of the people, and local residents met difficulties in enjoying spiritual culture.

 

Nhon Trach district achieves many awards and titles in the fields of economy, culture and society

 

When building a new district, the whole officials and residents of Nhon Trach district has stood together and strived to do their best in every aspect by specific actions. Nhon Trach has step by step carried out the agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization. The district has so far established 7 concentrated industrial zones with an area of 3,500ha, attracting 328 investment projects with a total registered capital of US$6.435 billion.

Specially, Nhon Trach 1, Nhon Trach 2 and Nhon Trach 3 industrial zones has their wastewater treatment systems and 4 environmental hygiene cooperatives. Nhon Trach is currently working out more basic construction works such as head offices, public cultural and educational buildings, and health establishments, etc. especially such historical works as the Victory Statue in Sac forest, the revolutionary martyr temple, and the tunnels of Nhon Trach are regularly repaired. The electric communication systems is being developed considerably, timely meeting the demand of the district development in the renovation period.

The economy of Nhon Trach district has developed and thus local residents’ life is better improved. The average growth rate is 16.1%, and the average per capita annual income now is VND16.5 million, a two-fold increase against the year 1995. Social policies have also been deployed widely from district to grassroots levels. The district has made good progress in education field with 49 schools, one continuing education centre, and over 26,000 students. Primary and secondary education has been basically universalized, and the district is striving to complete the universalization of high school education by 2010.

Nhon Trach district’s strategic vision and development orientation in the future

Apart from maintaining above-mentioned achievements, leaders and residents of Nhon Trach district also focus on obtaining important targets, especially in economy. The district plans to reach an average annual economic growth rate of 16.5-17%, in which the construction industry is expected to increase 21%. The average per capita annual income is expected to be VND18.5 million. Nhon Trach district will strive to mobilize an investment capital of VND10,742 to VND13,427.5 billion.

As for culture and society, the district will also set up vital goals: the natural population growth rate is expected to decline below 1.1%; 100% of households use electricity; the district plans to generate jobs for 25,000 laborers, to reduce the poor household rate to below 2%, and to complete the universalization of high school education.

These achievements of Nhon Trach district in the past 15 years will be the basic and driving force for officials and local residents to strive to accomplish targets in the upcoming time.
