On September 11 morning, to help poor students enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival, the provincial Red Cross Association visited and presented 253 gift sets to students and teachers in two branches C3 and Suoi Tuong of Ma Da Junior High School, Vinh Cuu district with 130 gift sets for C3 branch and 100 gift sets for Suoi Tuong branch.
 
On September 12 morning, at the provincial Square, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Dongnai Province held a ceremony to sum up summer holiday activities 2008 entitled “Summer of return to the root” and pass plan of summer holiday activities 2009.
 
On September 12, Dong Nai Board of traffic safety held the 2008 Contest on Knowledge of Law on Inland Waterway Traffic at the meeting-hall of provincial library. Contestants consisted of 10 teams of propaganda groups from the districts of Xuan Loc, Thong Nhat, Tan Phu Dinh Quan, Cam My, Tan Phu, Nhon Trach, Long Thanh, Vinh Cuu and Bien Hoa city and provincial police security.
 
Flash floods in some localities of Dong Nai province caused by heavy rain have killed 3 local people and injured 2 others, according to the provincial flood and storm prevention committee. Flood water has also swept away 656houses and destroyed 1,881 hectares of crops. The floods also damaged many roads and bridges in the areas and killed about 193,869 animals.
 
On September 16 morning, Vice-Chairperson of the provincial People’s Council Huynh Chi Thang had a meeting with Department of Traffic and Transport along with related branches, some districts on deployment progress of investment projects on basic construction of traffic works 2008 in the province. Earlier, the provincial People’s Council assigned a delegation to pay working visits to 3 districts, namely Vinh Cuu, Nhon Trach and Trang Bom.
 
On September 20-21, the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, Cultural Research Institute together with Dongnai provincial Party Department of Propaganda and Training co-organized the practical scientific seminar entitled “Role of Folk Culture in the development process of the Southeast”. Professor Dr. To Ngoc Thanh, President of Vietnam Folk Arts Association (VFAA) presided the seminar.
 
On September 23 afternoon, Giang Seo Phu-Minister, Member of Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities paid a working visit to Dongnai . Welcoming and meeting with him were Vo Van Mot-Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee along with representatives of provincial Standing People’s Council, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, and leaders of some functional agencies and branches.
 
On September 24 morning, the representative of the Vietnam Central Red Cross Vo Thi Linh along with its standing member, president of the provincial Red Cross handed over 100 commodities boxes to households damaged by flood in 4 communes of Xuan Loc district, namely Xuan Hoa, Suoi Cat, Lang Minh, Bao Hoa and over US$160 to each household in Xuan Phu commune who has relatives died of being swept away by flood. This is the activity of the Vietnam Central Red Cross with the aim of supporting and lessening difficulty of households damaged by the last flood in some districts in Dongnai province. Each commodities box contains things such as blanket, mosquito-net, saucepan, and 10 kilos of rice. The total value of the whole relief aid is US$6,700 and 400 commodities boxes.
 
On September 25 morning, at the glassed-in meeting hall of the provincial Party Committee, the Department of Propaganda and Training of the provincial Party Committee held seminar entitled “ Solutions to attract, congregate intellectuals, and bring into full play their potentialities across the province”. Attending the seminar were Vo Van Mot, Chairperson of the provincial People’s Committee along with leaders of departments, branches in the province.
 
On September 26, at the provincial Square, Ajinomoto Company in cooperation with the provincial Study Encouragement Association held a ceremony to award 240 scholarships to needy outstanding students in primary schools, junior high schools and senior high schools across the province. Huynh Thi Nga-Vice-chairperson of the provincial People’s Committee attended the ceremony.
