Statistics in
2005-2010 period indicates that there were 4,930 marriages involved in the
foreigners from 30 countries and territories in Dong Nai, ranked the second
after Ho Chi Minh city. Most marriages were involved in those from Taiwan, the
United States, South Korea, and China.
The number of
marriages with foreigners increases year by year. Since the Prime Minister's
Directive no. 03 was introduced, the marriage registration procedures between
Vietnamese and foreigners have been monitored closely, contributing to removing
irregular marriage applications that violate the principles of volunteerism and
progress in marriages, making marital relations legal and moral according to
Vietnam’s cultural traditions, and timely preventing illegal marriages.
However,
functional agencies’ reports indicate that there have remained weaknesses in the
administration over marital relations with foreigners at the present time.
The process of
considering and dealing with marriage applications has been made longer and more
complicated.
At the meeting,
25 collectives and 33 individuals with outstanding achievements in the
administration over marital relations with foreigners received Dong Nai People’s
Committee’s awards.
