The
DDARD reported that implementing the rural clean water supply and environmental
hygiene project until 2020 is very necessary because the general planning on
clean water and environmental hygiene of Dong Nai province in the 2001-2010
period is not suitable for current situation. In the 2001-2005 period, the
implementation of National Target Program for Clean
Water Supply and Rural Environment Sanitation 2001 -2005
gained such results as: building 6,637 bored
wells of various kinds; improving and newly building 16,151 dug wells; building
13,536 reservoirs; and upgrading 215 concentrated water supply systems.
Additionally, the program also ensured 80% of rural population making access to
clean water for drinking and living activities; 50% of rural households with
sanitary latrines; and 50% of households with sanitary animal-breeding
facilities and waste water treatment systems. Under
the National Target Program for Clean Water Supply and Rural Environment
Sanitation 2006-2010, the following targets shall be met: 90% of rural
population making access to clean water; 80% of rural households having hygienic
latrines; and 80% farmer households having hygienic animal-breeding facilities.
At the same time, 697 bored wells will be built; 2,835 dug wells, 2,157
reversoirs and 90 concentrated water supply systems
will be newly built.

in this investment. The project in expected to cost over VND633 million. The
capital resources will be mobilized with the motto “the state and people working
together”, of which for medium and large scale construction works, the
investment capital will be mobilized from the state budget and other economic
sectors.
At
the conference, Vice Chairman Ao Van Thinh concluded that the stability factor
of the project should be considered in the long time; and that
clean water supply and rural environmental sanitation
program should be paid special attention, especially in deep-lying and remote
areas. He also suggested that the contractor should collaborate with the
project’s planning council to adjust the project and boost its implementation.
