According to the plan of developing Vietnam's seaport system till 2020 and vision 2030, Dong Nai Port is a major sea transport hub of the Southeast seaport group (Group 5). Dong Nai Port will include such functional areas as: Phuoc An-Go Dau on Thi Vai River; Phu Huu-Nhon Trach on Long Tau river; and Dong Nai on Dong Nai river. In addition, Dong Nai port has Binh Duong general port on Dong Nai River which receives containerships of a tonnage of up to 5000 DWT. In fact, the planning of Dong Nai port has some shortcomings that need to be solved.

Vice Chairman Tran Van Vinh works with the Ministry of Transport

Deputy Minister of Transport Tran Doan Tho said that it was necessary to step by step complete the seaport network and establish logistics services to support cargo transportation in Phuoc An-Go Dau area. Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Vung Tau interregional expressway project must be adjusted properly so that it has not inluenced on Phu Huu 1 general port. Bien Hoa-Vung Tau high-speed railway should be early deployed to connect the seaport network to industrial zones on the corridor of National Road No.51, running Ho Chi Minh City through Phnom-Penh, and from the MeKong Delta regions to the Central Highlands.

Vice Chairman Tran Van Vinh suggested that the Ministry of Transport should consider the grand aid so that Dong Nai province could quickly deployed the plan as scheduled. The province will cooperate with the People’s Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province to implement the construction of Long Thanh-Vung Tau expressway as planned.
