Dr. Ngoc Thu participates in free eye screening
campaign for underprivileged children
Dr. Ngoc Thu said
that there were many children suffering from eye
diseases, such as: refractive
error, congenital cataracts ... which are
completely treatable. However, because of poverty, parents
hardly have a chance to take their children to clinics or hospitals for timely treatment, which
may cause serious complications or even blindness.
With the awareness about this
matter, Dr Ngoc Thu has participated in social
activities to deliver free medical examination and medicine to the poor, especially the children with eye diseases in remote communes in the
province. Additionally, Dr. Ngoc Thu has also
taken part in free eye examination campaigns for children suffering from eye
diseases funded by the Provincial Child
Support organization. Dr. Ngoc Thu
is also a regular guest of Doctor-at-home, a
health counseling program operated by Dong Nai
Radio and Television Station which is broadcasted
live on channel ĐN1 every Sunday. In the program,
doctors advise people
what to do first when they have eye injuries, especially the identification of
their children’s eye diseases at early
stages in order to have timely
treatment.
Dr Ngoc Thu confided that:
"There are many Eye surgeries requiring
high standard that is beyond domestic doctors’
ability. Therefore, I always want to improve my professional skills
to be able
to provide examination and treatment to
many patients who
have eye diseases”. With this ambition,
patience and research, after many examinations Dr. Ngoc Thu got
scholarship of eye surgery sponsored by the
charitable organization of American ophthalmology
(Orbis). This is an opportunity
for Dr Ngoc Thu
to have more chances to gain experiences and improve her skills.
Beside the
devotion to her profession, Dr. Ngoc
Thu also has social contributions,
such as: participating
in blood donation 9 times, offering treatment fee support to the
poor ... With good deeds, Dr. Ngoc Thu
has been awarded many honors and merits.
