Long Thanh District: Prevention Measures against HFMD Strengthened

Long Thanh Medical Center says the district has so far found 190 cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD), including two dead children patients.

As the disease turns out complicated, Long Thanh district People's Committee decides forming the board of disease prevention and control in human and releases documents for assigning its members to local areas, asking communes to establish their own boards and make plans in each locality. The center has trained 97 health workers in hamlets, 34 commune health officials and teachers in 69 kindergartens and preschools across the district on knowledge of HFMD in children. Also, it has provided 400 kilos of chloramines B for sanitizing and sterilizing classrooms, learning and play equipments simultaneously in the schools.
In the time to come, the district will continue propaganda about awareness of HFMD on mass media, leaflets by means of youth forces, sectors, social groups in each hamlet; hold talks along with meetings and conferences among sectors; foster preparations for chloramines B spray and mosquito-larva killing campaign against dengue fever between December 10 and 11, 2011.
