Bien Hoa Medical Center starts the propaganda program against dengue fever
According to The Provincial Center for Preventive Medicine’s report, since earlier this year, the province has found 2,200 cases of dengue fever, including five deaths as the disease is spreading to over 171 out of 171 communes, wards and towns across the province. Worrying sign is that the disease is turning out complicated, causing a rise in the number of infected people. The localities with high rate of dengue fever include Bien Hoa city, Long Khanh town, Long Thanh and Xuan Loc districts. According to the provincial health sector, major causes leading to wide spread of the disease include the complicated weather condition, especially June and July, heavy rainfall and high humidity, enabling mosquito to thrive while there’s no specific medicine and vaccine.
The province is currently tightening precautionary measures, says Dr. Cao Trong Nguong, the Provincial Center for Preventive Medicine. After killing larva in the first stage, it will start chemical spray against mosquitoes, asking localities to keep living environment hygiene. In hardly hit areas, the second stage is required.

Localities’ reports show that the disease goes complicated with increasing number of dengue fever patients. Long Khanh Medical Center says the town documented 90 cases of dengue fever, 17 small-scale outbreaks occurred in July with those in Suoi Tre commune, Binh Xuan ward eliminated. The report also notes that after Long Khanh health workers conduct larva campaign, followed by larva killer spray, mosquito density significantly falls.
As report by Bien Hoa Medical Center, as of early August, the city has been recorded 357 cases of dengue fever, up 150% compared with the same period last year. One person is found dead of the disease in Tam Hiep ward.
In other localities such as Long Thanh, Xuan Loc, Trang Bom, etc. health sector also fosters propaganda about the epidemic, in cooperation with local authorities and organizations to clear the surrounding environment, widen sewages and chop down brushes and so on.
Dr. Huy Minh Hoan, acting director of Department of Health says the province urges the sector to strengthen the larva killing campaign, closely monitor the disease happening and punctually report the situation, especially as the epidemic become complicated and widely spreads, for solutions.
