Seminar on enhancing quality of rubber latex

On November 10 morning, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ho Xuan Hung chaired a seminar held in Binh Duong province on enhancing the quality of Vietnam rubber latex. The seminar has attracted much attention from the ministries, departments and localities having many rubber plantation areas in Vietnam.

In recent years,
the land for growing rubber and rubber yield in Vietnam tend to be expanded and
increase rapidly. In 2008, the rubber yield reached nearly 663,000 tonnes, and
Vietnam was the world's fifth-largest rubber producer and the
fourth-largest rubber exporter. However, the quality of rubber latex is still
not good enough, thus it led to low prices when Vietnam rubber is exported to
the world market.
At the seminar,
Deputy Minister Ho Xuan Hung said that it was necessary to closely check and
enhance the rubber quality. He suggested that the rubber sector and related
management agencies should cooperate to set up rubber latex processing
standards; encourage enterprises to invest in production techniques; strengthen
the effectiveness of quality control system; and supervise the quality of export
products. Besides, he also asked localities having many rubber plantation areas
to focus on the area planning and construction of appropriate rubber processing
plants; and that rubber enterprises should actively enhance the latex quality as
well as build rubber’s brand name with development of product quality, etc.,
making contribution to confirm the position of Vietnam rubber sector in the
world market.
