The Commando Regiment 113 was established on June 3, 1972 at Ba Hao
revolutionary base (War Zone D) during the Nguyen Hue offensive. Taking on the
task for attacking east into Saigon and paving the way for liberation troops to
enter Saigon from the gate of Bien Hoa, the Commando Corps 113 carried out an
attack on Long Binh Depot, Bien Hoa airport, Ho Ba Tuc base (Tan Phong) and
American and Quisling Army Corps 3… In the process of conducting it missions,
the Corps 113 cooperated with local residents and soldiers in winning a
landslide victory against the enemy such as exploding Bien Hoa airport,
destroying their arms depot at Hill 53 (Long Binh Depot), annihilated the enemy
and took control of the Hoa An bridge and the Ghenh bridge on April 19 and 20,
1975… From its founding day to the liberation day, the Commando Regiment 113’s

Commando Corps 113’s heroic martyrs |
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the stele monument, Deputy Secretary of
the provincial Standing Party Committee – Le Hong Phuong –emphasized that the
monument is a historic and cultural construction, which plays an important role
in educating the young generation on the glorious revolutionary tradition of
Vietnam and its revolutionary armed forces, especially the glorious tradition of
the heroic Commando Regiment 113. The monument construction shows the
traditional morality of "When drinking water, remember its source” and the
gratitude of the Party, the local authorities and Dong Nai people to those who
died for the country’s independence and freedom. Thus, he suggested that it is
necessary to issue clear regulations on turning this place into a place where
people, especially the young, can come for study and cultural activities,
thereby helping them acquire a better understanding about the commando Corps
113’s historic and heroic tradition as well as the revolutionary tradition of
Dong Nai military and people during the great patriotic war.
It is known that the stele monument started construction on March 15, 2009 in a
780-square-meter area and cost more than VND3 billion. It is located on a hill
within Bien Hoa forestry center, which used to be the headquarters of the
Commando Regiment 113.
