On the morning of August 21, Dong Nai Veterans’ Association held the 4th Emulation Festival “Exemplary Veteran” (2005-2009). The festival was attended by Vice President of the Vietnam Veteran’s Association – Lieutenant General Le Thanh Tam, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Standing Party Committee – Le Hong Phuong, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee – Vo Van Mot, Heroic Vietnamese Mother – Tran Thi Hai and lots of the members of the Veterans’ Associations across the province.

Over the past five years, the emulation movement “Exemplary Veteran” has become
one of the important activities contributing to boosting the operation
efficiency of the Veterans’ Associations across the province in all aspects. The
movement helps the members of the Association increase their living standard,
eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, get rich legally and overcome difficulties.
VND10.7 billion, 44.4 tales, ten thousands of public workdays, plants and
breeding animals have been used to assist the Association’s members in the form
of loans, to build 220 houses of compassion and to repair 158 old houses of the
members having difficulties in accommodation... In addition, the Association has
developed its roles and has actively educated the young generation on the
patriotic and revolutionary tradition, national defense and security and the
building of the rural infrastructure... On this occasion, the Association also
adopted its course and set its tasks in the five coming years’ emulation
movement. The main content is to focus on building a strong and clean
association, raising the operation quality of the Association – especially that
of the grassroots Associations, helping improve the living standard of the
Association’s members, cooperating in disseminating the revolutionary tradition
and educating the young generation on it and participating in the protection of
the Party and the government and the preservation of social security and order.

Excellent individuals receive the certificates of merit from the
Vietnam Veterans’ Association |
At the festival, Dong Nai Veterans’ Association and two grassroots Associations
were honored to receive the emulation flag from the Vietnam Veterans’
Association. In addition, Vietnam Veterans’ Association also awarded the
certificates of merit to two collectives, eight individuals and bestowed the
title “Emulation Fighter” upon nine individuals. Dong Nai People’s Committee
awarded the certificates of merit to 17 collectives and 37 individuals – the
members of the Association who have obtained outstanding achievements during
their work process.
