Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee, Tran Dinh Thanh, is making a
speech to commence the Congress |
Addressing the
Congress, Thanh emphasized that thanks to the timely adjustments of the
Government, the positive guidance of all levels of the Party Committee and local
government and people’s efforts, Dong Nai socio-economy in 2009 continued to
achieve high growth in almost every aspect regardless of the nation-wide and
world-wide impacts of economic recession. Specifically, GDP growth rate reached
9.3% (compared to 8.5% in the resolution). Thanks to the resolution, the
structure of the economy changed for the better; social security was maintained;
people’s lives were improved and people’s beliefs were strengthened. However, in
2009 there were some weaknesses that Dong Nai is supposed to overcome.
Particularly, 2 out of 43 targets in the resolution were not met. There have
existed environmental issues, a slow implementation progress of projects,
failure to meet requirements for rural demand stimulus, a low rate of vocational
training for those living in rural areas and a high rate of poor households in
some localities.

Delegates are joining in discussions at the Congress |
Apart from its
achievements, Dong Nai is faced with many challenges. Thus, all levels of
government and sectors are required to make efforts in early 2010. The Secretary
of Dong Nai Party Committee proposed that the Congress focus on discussing and
analyzing achieved results and then put forward solutions to successfully
implement 2010 socio-economic tasks.
January 20
through 21, the Congress mainly revolved around the implementation of Dong Nai
Party Committee’s Resolution no. 11-NQ/TU on 2009 targets and tasks and the
summation report on 2009 inspection work. Also, the Congress discussed solutions
to the implementation of 2010 targets and tasks according to the resolution.
