The exhibition of the Vietnamese People’s Navy’s traditions

On May 2, 2009, the Navy museum held a mobile exhibition of the Vietnamese People’s Navy’ traditions at the Navy base S96HQ on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Unification to welcome the 54th anniversary of the Vietnamese People’s Navy (May 7, 1955 – May 7, 2009) and the 55th anniversary of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu (May 7, 1954 – May 7, 2009). Secretary of the provincial Youth Union – Bui Xuan Thong and the representatives: the youth Union members, youth, teachers and the female members from seven units of brotherhood went to the exhibition.

charts and maps, the Navy’s achievements and feat of arms and 120 historical
objects which focus on 13 subjects are exhibited. The exhibition gives all the
staff, soldiers and people a deeper understanding of the sea of Vietnam and its
position, roles and importance towards the country’s construction, economic
growth, national defence and security, the Navy’s
heroic traditions over the past 54 years for construction, struggle and
development and the Navy’s contributions to the work of building and defending
the country. On this occasion, the Base S96HQ organized many activities:
offering 15 gifts worth VND150,000 each to 15 governmentally-funded families in
Nhon Trach district and carrying out 12 medium and small-sized youth projects as
achievements to welcome the 55th anniversary of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu and
the 54th anniversary of the Vietnamese People’s Navy.
