During the first half-term of the 7th Congress of Dong Nai Women’s Union, its
resolution was implemented with the intention of building and developing a
strong and united Union, of encouraging women from all works of life to take
part in the emulation movement "Learn actively, work creatively and build a
happy family”, of developing potentials and actively participating in
socio-economic development to improve women’s spiritual and material life, of
creating an image of a patriotic, creative and responsible woman, which is
associated with gender equality. The Executive Board of the provincial Women’s
Union has continually innovated and diversified its forms of activities,
improved its quality – especially that of grassroots units and attracted a large
number of women to its movements. With a variety of specific activities which
are closely connected with the rights and benefits of women from grassroots
units, those are the activities of groups of elderly women, of the women who do
healthy exercise, of the women in need of poverty reduction and of the women who
raise their children to be good people... of traditional mothers’ association,
of businesswomen’s club and of lodging owners... The Union of all levels has
attracted nearly 44,000 members, which makes its total members – 451,795,
accounting for 69.31% compared to the women whose age is not less than 18. The
number of its key members is 156,166, accounting for 36.54%, and 70% of wards
and communes convene periodic meetings for their key members.

The Union has sought cooperation and made loans of VND198 billion to more than
80,000 women to help them increase their income, eliminate hunger, reduce
poverty and develop their family economy. Up to now, the Union has formed 4,544
credit and savings groups of women with a membership of nearly 76,000 and raised
an amount of VND51.6 billion. The number of poor households whose householders
are women and who has received support loans is 6,653 ones, accounting for 83%
of the total poor households with female householders. Thereby, it helps 3,060
households through poverty. The Union has campaigned for building and
transferring 131 houses of compassion worth VND1,352 billion to its members who
encounter difficulties in accommodation and awarded 4,920 scholarships worth
VND1.7 billion and more than VND6 billion, which are used to support
government-funded individuals...
Addressing the conference, Mr. Le Hong Phuong – Deputy Secretary of the
provincial Standing Party Committee highly appreciated the efforts that the
Union has made and the results that it has achieved over the first half-term. He
suggested that the Union should focus on re-considering its criteria and
weaknesses to find out its problems and to work out solutions, enhance taking
care of women’s spiritual and material life – especially that of ethnic, rural
and poor women, continue to update its contents and operation methods under the
motto – focus on grassroots units and determine its detachments and members as a
major force, promote the role of women at all aspects with the intention of
helping them meet all the requirements for health, knowledge and career skills
so that they could work and create, know precisely its members’ wishes to timely
reflect their wishes and produce solutions, improve their lives and assist them
in seeking for jobs, and simultaneously promote the propaganda of law education
and knowledge relating to gender equality.
